Side angle
The cue ball hits a nearby 1st ball, then goes long cushion → short cushion → far long cushion and comes back to the 2nd ball on the side it started from.
Path: 1st ball → long cushion → short cushion → long cushion → 2nd ball
Scores in both three-cushion (yellow is the 2nd ball) and four-ball.
- Use it when the cue ball and 1st ball are close and the 1st ball is near a long cushion. Hit the 1st ball at 1/2 ball to send the cue ball into the long cushion beside it.
- Add running spin (3 tips right). The angle off the short cushion lengthens and carries the cue ball across the far long cushion to the 2nd ball.
- It looks like an outside angle, but the balls are close and the cue ball meets the first cushion at an angle instead of along its line. A fuller hit shortens the path. A thinner hit lengthens it.
